The Anthropocene marks a turning point in how we understand humans, as geological agents shaping the Earth's systems. This shift has sparked deep ethical debates in environmental philosophy, particularly between anthropocentric and non-anthropocentric positions. While both offer important insights, they often struggle to fully grasp the complexity of the Anthropocene, especially when it comes to nonhuman agency and the vast scale of geological time. This article introduces a post-anthropocentric ethical approach as a critical alternative that moves beyond the usual divide. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of species and the multi-causal nature of geological change, calling for a rethinking of human subjectivity. Rather than viewing humans as the central, autonomous actors in the world, this perspective sees them as part of a broader, plural network of agencies. In this light, environmental ethics becomes a more inclusive practice, one that recognizes the shared roles of both human and nonhuman beings in navigating the climate crisis.
