Abstrak

Residents of the city of Tokyo witnessed the acceptance of the decision to demolish various sports facilities in the Meiji Jingu outdoor complex to accommodate tourism and office facilities. This was done despite receiving strong criticism from city residents and activist organizations, who claimed that the decision was taken without proper consultation with the public. This article will explore the urban context surrounding the planned redevelopment of the Meiji Jingu outer complex, taking into account the history and surrounding environment. Then, this article will argue that the redevelopment plan is ethically problematic because it creates spatial injustice. At the end, this article will also provide recommendations for making the plan spatially fair.
