This abstract examines the relationship between morality and the Sacrament of Penance in the Catholic Church, focusing on the film El Crimen del Padre Amaro as a case study. The film portrays the character Padre Amaro, who engages in various moral transgressions, including the misuse of the Sacrament of Penance, illicit sexual relations, and abortion. The author analyzes how these actions violate canon law and the doctrines of the Catholic Church, as well as their impact on the moral integrity of a priest. The study also highlights the importance of applying Church teachings in daily life and their implications for the Catholic faithful. Using theological and ethical approaches, the author aims to provide a deeper understanding of the significance of maintaining morality and upholding the law within a religious context. This analysis is intended to encourage further reflection on the role of the Sacrament of Penance in supporting a spiritual life in accordance with Church teachings.
